Ring Repair
Expert Ring Repair & Restoration in Brookline & Boston, MA
At Jewelry Express Works, we provide professional on-site ring repair and restoration services to bring your jewelry back to its original strength and beauty. Our master bench jeweler, Igor, completes all work right here in our Brookline storefront, ensuring your jewelry never leaves our secure premises.
We work exclusively with precious metals, including gold, platinum, palladium, and sterling silver, expertly servicing both modern engagement rings and delicate antique family heirlooms.
Common Structural Repairs & Starting Rates
Because every ring restoration is entirely unique to the piece's construction, final costs are calculated upon physical inspection. To guide your expectations, our starting rates for standard bench work include:
- Prong Repair & Stone Tightening: Starting at $60 (Reflects our starting rate for standard prong retipping to keep your gemstones safely locked in place. Quotes adjust naturally depending on whether the piece needs a basic tip repair or a full structural prong rebuild, as well as the total number of stones being secured. Platinum work scales higher due to the density and difficulty of the metal.)
- Cracked or Broken Shank Soldering: Starting at $95 (For repairing structural breaks or thin cracks in the band to make it safe for daily wear again.)
- Sizing Beads & U-Spring Stabilizers: Custom Quoted (The ideal fix if a ring needs to be sized larger to clear your knuckle, but twists, spins, or sits unevenly once it rests on your finger.)
- Gemstone Replacement & Setting: Custom Quoted based on the specific gemstone type, size, carat weight, and required setting style.
Complete Ring Re-Creation & Replication
If a sentimental family piece has worn down too thin to safely repair, or if you are looking to reproduce a missing piece, Igor can completely recreate worn-out or lost rings from photographs or memories. We combine decades of traditional bench experience with modern custom design tools to replicate your ring down to the exact historic detail.
Turnaround Times & Estimates
- Standard Structural Repairs: Typically completed within 1 to 2 weeks.
- Complex or Antique Restorations: May require 2 to 3 weeks, depending on gemstone sourcing and setting layout complexity.
Our In-Store Estimate Policy: To ensure absolute pricing accuracy for our clients, we do not provide repair quotes over the phone or via email. Our jeweler must physically inspect the metal purity, structural wear, and gemstone stability under magnification to provide a fair and honest estimate. Please stop by our Brookline storefront anytime during business hours for a comprehensive inspection.
